== Basic Information ==
The basic information consists of text fields for the main title, alternative titles, and up to one synopsis per language, all of which require you to select a locale.

This is '''not''' necessarily the language the text is in, but based on the language of its source: The title of the '''French translation''' of a manga should have its title locale set to French, regardless of whether it's actually French or just reusing the official English title, for example.

The purpose of this is to display localized title entries to users. While display preferences for main and alternative titles can already be customized in the [https://mangadex.org/settings#site settings], the synopsis doesn't support this yet. Instead, the English synopsis will always be shown if available. Otherwise, it will fall back to whatever other synopsis is available, if any.

=== Main Title ===
The main title of the entry. This should typically be the Romanized title of the language of origin.

=== Alternative Titles ===
Any official titles, translated titles, and '''widespread''' short titles/abbreviations that will make finding this page easier can be added here.

=== Synopsis ===
A short introduction to the title in question. This may be a synopsis from an official source or written by users, if none is available in that language. Avoid spoilers and don't use machine-translated synopses when trying to fill this field. You may leave this field empty if you can't find or write your own synopsis.

Avoid adding links and other unrelated content to this field as much as possible. Relevant links to [[Content:Title#Tracking Sites|tracking sites]], [[Content:Title#Official Sites|official sites]], and [[Content:Title#Retail Sites|retail sites]] should be added in their respective sections. Similarly, links about the authors or artists (E.g. social media) should be added directly to [[Authors|their page]].

== Metadata ==

=== Authors and Artists ===
One list each for authors and artists of this title. If an author or artist doesn't have an entry on MangaDex yet and therefore can't be found, it may be created here as well.
{{Note|Selecting "Sync authors and artists" will make the list of artists a copy of the authors. This is helpful when both lists are identical, as is usually the case if there's only a single person credited as ''mangaka''}}

=== Original Language ===
The original language of the work. Usually corresponding to the country of origin's native language.

=== Content Rating ===
'''Safe''': No obscene or vulgar depictions of the human body nor nudity, sexual content, provocative clothing, or suggestive scenes.

* Examples of inappropriate content for this rating include scenes that focus on physical allure or romantic implications through clothing or behavior.

'''Suggestive''': Contains minor to moderate sensual elements such as flirtation, teasing, or implied intimacy. Minor nudity may be present (e.g., a bare back or shoulder) but is not the focus. No explicit sexual activity or sexualized nudity is depicted.

'''Erotica''': Features a significant amount of sensuality and sexual content that contributes to the story. Explicit nudity and sex scenes are included, but the plot and character development remain the primary focus. The intent is not purely for sexual arousal.

'''Mature''': Sexual content is the primary focus, and the main intent is to sexually arouse the audience. Any depiction of genitals in a sexual context (even if censored with whiteout, black bars, or mosaics) automatically falls under this category.

=== Publication Status ===
This refers to the publication status of the title '''in the country of origin''', not on MangaDex.

'''Ongoing''': Still being actively published.

'''Completed''': Officially finished and no further chapters will be released.

'''Hiatus''': Temporarily paused with official notice from the author or publisher. The work is expected to resume.

'''Cancelled''': Discontinued and will not resume, possibly without official notice from the author or publisher.

=== Final Volume/Chapter ===
Only fill the respective fields '''after''' the final volume/chapter has been officially released. These fields require the [[Content:Title#Publication Status|publication status]] to be set to either 'Completed' or 'Cancelled'.

Either field can be left empty if unknown.

=== Magazine Demographic ===
This field is only applicable to titles where the original language is Japanese. It reflects the target audience of the magazine where the work was first published, regardless of the content.

'''Shounen''': Published in a magazine with a target of adolescent boys and young men, typically aged 12-18.

'''Shoujo''': Published in a magazine with a target of adolescent girls and young women, typically aged 12-18.

'''Seinen''': Published in a magazine with a target of adult men, typically aged 18 and above.

'''Josei''': Published in a magazine with a target of adult women, typically aged 18 and above.

'''None''': Published with no clear demographic target, with potential to appeal to a broad audience regardless of age or gender.

=== Publication Year ===
The '''starting year''' of publication, either online or in print.

== Tags ==
Tags are used to augment titles with information about the publication [[Tags#Format|format]], as well as [[Tags#Genre|genre]] and [[Tags#Theme|themes]] of the story. [[Tags#Content Warnings|Content warnings]] aka trigger warnings (not to be confused with the title's [[Title#Content Rating|content rating]]) are used to flag content that may be distressing or traumatizing.

== Sites ==
... are used to store various links '''relevant''' to a title entry in a structured way.

For tracking and retail sites, entering a valid URL should automatically detect the website, but you can also select it manually. Additionally, each website may only be used at most '''once per category''' (E.g. tracking sites can't contain multiple MangaUpdates links).

=== Tracking Sites ===
Supports links to the following trackers:
* AniList
* Anime-Planet
* Kitsu
* MangaUpdates
* MyAnimeList
* Novel Updates (for novel adaptions)

For websites tracking both titles and anime, do '''not''' link to anime related to a title.

=== Official Sites ===
Up to one website each to the official source of the published chapters in either the original language (referred to as ''Raw'') or English may be added here.
{{Note|Links will default to type ''Raw''. Manually change the correct one to ''Official English'' when providing two official links.}}

=== Retail Sites ===
Links to retail websites that sell (preferably) volumes of the title may be added here. Try to add links that cover the series as a whole, if possible. Otherwise, link to the first volume.

The following retailers can currently be added:

* Amazon
** Try to get the URL of the Kindle version if possible.
** Minimize the URL to its smallest form. (E.g. <nowiki>https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/SERIESID</nowiki>)
* Book☆Walker
* BookLive
* CDJapan
* eBookJapan

== Relations ==
A relation forms a connection between two titles on MangaDex. It can be established from either title of the relation and will appear on both titles' pages automatically. You can find a detailed list of the available relations and their purpose [[Relations|here]].

== Covers ==
There should always be at least one cover in the original language added when creating a title. Preferably add original volume covers in the original language in the best quality available when possible. Covers that are in portrait orientation are preferred.

The format must be either JPEG, PNG or GIF.

Covers that encompass the entirety of the work from sites like MangaPlus are allowed, but should be added as volume 0. When such covers change over time, do not add or update the existing cover until a suitable solution is implemented that can hold these variations.

If no volumes have been published nor any suitable cover can be found that represents the title as a whole, it is allowed to add a chapter cover. Once a volume cover is available, the chapter cover(s) should be removed.
