The basic information consists of text fields for the main title, alternative titles, and up to one synopsis per language, all of which require you to select a locale.

This is '''not''' necessarily the language the text is in, but based on the language of its source: The title of the '''French translation''' of a manga should have its title locale set to French, regardless of whether it's actually French or just reusing the official English title, for example.

The purpose of this is to display localized title entries to users. While display preferences for main and alternative titles can already be customized in the [https://mangadex.org/settings#site settings], the synopsis doesn't support this yet. Instead, the English synopsis will always be shown if available. Otherwise, it will fall back to whatever other synopsis is available, if any.

== Relations ==
A relation forms a connection between two titles on MangaDex. It can be established from either title of the relation and will appear on both titles' pages automatically. You can find a detailed list of the available relations and their purpose [[Relations|here]].

== Covers ==
There should always be at least one cover in the original language added when creating a title. Preferably add original volume covers in the original language in the best quality available when possible. Covers that are in portrait orientation are preferred.

The format must be either JPEG, PNG or GIF.

Covers that encompass the entirety of the work from sites like MangaPlus are allowed, but should be added as volume 0. When such covers change over time, do not add or update the existing cover until a suitable solution is implemented that can hold these variations.

If no volumes have been published nor any suitable cover can be found that represents the title as a whole, it is allowed to add a chapter cover. Once a volume cover is available, the chapter cover(s) should be removed.
